WHY MAS CLEMENTINE?

Why MAS CLEMENTINE?

We were looking for a name, an identity for our house, linked to the history of our village.

We discovered this story through the life of a character born in Puisserguier: Father Abram.

At the end of the 19th century, Father Abram was the director of an orphanage located near a monastic convent in Misserghin, not far from Oran, Algeria. His mission was to educate Algerian orphans through agriculture and arboriculture.

Among the monks who assisted him in his task was Brother Clement, originally from Auvergne, who was particularly responsible for the orphanage's nursery.

Both discovered in 1902 a delicious fruit with the sweet notes of the Mediterranean sun.

By multiplying the grafts on this tree, they ended up creating the Clementine.

To pay tribute to them, an annual festival is organized in the spring by the association "Les mémoires de Puisserguier" honoring this very popular citrus fruit.
